Nicolas Lopez-Juarez appears to be heading back to Guatemala after his felony conviction yesterday in federal court in downtown St. Paul.
Lopez had earned Minnesota Man of the Week honors early last month, with a legal history (mostly drunk driving) so complex that I needed to create a spreadsheet to track it all.
Lopez, age 28, pled guilty to one federal count of illegal re-entry of a previously deported illegal alien. His previous deportation occurred in 2019 following his first drunk driving conviction.
He was sentenced to time served on this latest federal conviction. Lopez had been in federal custody since mid-August, after his most recent state arrest.
