Position: Greater Minnesota Coordinator (Virtual in MN)

About American Experiment:

Center of the American Experiment is Minnesota’s think tank. Its mission is to change Minnesota’s civic culture by promoting free-market, limited-government policies. American Experiment’s staff advances those solutions by drafting legislation, testifying before legislative committees, conducting meetings and programs across the state of Minnesota and neighboring states, and engaging in an aggressive outreach program that includes social media, a quarterly magazine, two podcasts, radio and television advertising and appearances, op-eds in newspapers and magazines, billboards, and more.

American Experiment maintains five chapters in Greater Minnesota that serve as focal points for communications and activism across the state of Minnesota.

About the Position:

The Greater Minnesota Coordinator will serve as the primary liaison between American Experiment and Greater Minnesota, fostering relationships with established chapters, donors, community officials, and other stakeholders. This role involves managing the operations of all five chapters, planning and executing events, expanding American Experiment’s initiatives and network, and fundraising.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated gift for building meaningful relationships with 3+ years of related experience.

This is a full-time position located in American Experiment’s office in Minnetonka, MN, or possibly elsewhere in Minnesota. Approximately 50% travel within the state of Minnesota is expected, with evening and weekend events as required.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Represent American Experiment to Greater Minnesota, functioning as a liaison to established chapters, area donors, community officials, and stakeholders, and the broader Center network
  • Manage the operations of all five chapters of American Experiment. Conduct monthly meetings with each chapter. Strategically plan events in each area. Create benchmarks for growth
  • Increase American Experiment’s network by adding new magazine subscriptions, email addresses, new donors, and event attendees
  • Lead American Experiment’s fundraising activities in Greater Minnesota.
  • Establish relationships with existing Center donors and actively initiate relationships with prospective new donors
  • Coordinate events to enhance donor relationships
  • Support with strategic planning for events in Greater Minnesota and associated initiatives
  • Represent American Experiment at community events, giving speeches at events hosted by others in Greater Minnesota
  • Work with policy fellows to initiate ways to expand their work in Greater Minnesota

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of outreach, campaign, coalition-building, or fundraising/marketing experience, with knowledge of how to build meaningful relationships
  • Alignment with the American Experiment’s mission and passion for the principles of free enterprise, limited government, personal responsibility, and government accountability
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of Minnesota approximately 50% of the time
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking
  • Outgoing, dynamic, charismatic personality with an independent work ethic
  • Ability to relate to and build rapport with people from all walks of life; high comfort level in a multitude of environments and settings
