The Kansas School Board Resource Center (KSBRC) is pleased to announce that veteran Kansas educator and school leader Marc Woofter has joined the organization as Project Lead.
With over three decades of experience in public education, Woofter brings extensive expertise in school leadership, district administration, board governance, curriculum development, and student achievement initiatives. In his new role, he will create and lead innovative projects designed to support school superintendents and boards of education in their efforts to improve student academic outcomes across Kansas.
“We are excited to welcome Marc to the KSBRC team,” said Dr. Tracy Frederick, Executive Director of KSBRC. “His deep understanding of public education, proven leadership experience, and commitment to student success make him an outstanding addition to our organization. Marc will play a key role in helping us support school boards and superintendents as they work together to ensure Kansas students are academically prepared for college and careers.”
Woofter most recently served as Superintendent for Cheney USD 268, where he successfully led districtwide initiatives focused on continual improvement, student achievement, and teaching excellence. Throughout his distinguished career, he has served in numerous leadership positions, including principal, superintendent, and Head Start director in school districts across Kansas, including Cheney, Derby, Dodge City, Cimarron, and Ellinwood.
His career accomplishments have earned statewide recognition. Woofter was named KASSP District 6 Principal of the Year, recognized as a Kansas Master Teacher/Educator, and honored as Southwest Kansas KMEA Principal of the Year. He also helped schools earn multiple Model/Master School Awards for academic excellence and has led major facility improvement projects, technology initiatives, literacy programs, and emergency preparedness planning efforts.
In addition to his K-12 leadership experience, Woofter has served as an adjunct professor with Newman University, supervising student interns and teaching future educators in science methods and special education coursework.
As Project Lead, Woofter will work closely with school boards, superintendents, and education leaders throughout Kansas, serving as a trusted partner and thought leader on governance, leadership, and effective board-superintendent relationships. His work will support KSBRC’s mission of helping local education leaders focus on what matters most: improving student achievement.

Woofter earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Saint Mary of the Plains College and a Master of Science in Education Administration with a Central Administration Endorsement from Fort Hays State University.
