What parent wouldn’t be overjoyed with an extra $7,000 or more in the bank account each year? That’s the difference between a cash-strapped family and one that enjoys things like academic tutoring, specialized coursework for special education students, private school, and college counseling. Quality life-changing educational pathways would no longer be confined to the wealthier class.
That kind of vision is why we launched the $7K for Kids campaign that promotes a Minnesota Education Savings Account (ESA). There are already 21 ESA programs in 18 states, giving Minnesota a clear roadmap for success. These popular programs give students who aren’t being served well by their assigned public school the flexibility to opt into something that works for them.
An ESA program won’t cripple Minnesota’s public schools. Actually, research shows that states with educational choice enjoy a small boost to district school performance. Every child deserves to attend a school that works for them, not the system. You can read more about our campaign and ESAs here.
Let’s raise awareness about this vital education option together!
