I’ve had much fun over the years tracing the campaign donations to Minnesota Democrats from the shadowy foreign billionaire George Soros and his extended family of New York City. So, here we go again.
The Soros-funded Democracy PAC II has donated some $600,000 directly to the state Democratic party during this 2025-26 election cycle.
George’s son Jonathan donated the maximum $4,000 directly to U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s campaign for governor.
Jonathan Soros, along with his wife Jennifer, each donated the maximum $2,500 to the re-election campaign of state attorney general Keith Ellison. They also donated $10,000 each to something called The PAC for Minnesota’s Future, which is naturally based in Washington, DC. The PAC, in turn, has donated more than $460,000 to Minnesota Democratic party units this cycle
Speaking of “The PAC,” in its most recent two campaign finance disclosure filings, it has listed a $4 million donation from a Sarah Q. O’Neill of New York City. There is a prolific Democratic donor by that name, but a single donation listed at that size may be carrying an extra zero or two beyond what was actually given.
My vote for the single most disturbing cash donation to Minnesota politics this cycle is the $1 million given by LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman to the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) Victory Fund PAC. The DGA, of course, is backing Amy Klobuchar for governor this year, and has given the maximum $4,000 directly to her campaign and another $300,000 to the state Democratic party this year.
Hoffman is a multi-billionaire in his own right and lists a San Francisco P.O. Box as his address. Hoffman is closely tied to the now-deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein. NBC News reported back in February,
Latest Epstein files release rattles Silicon Valley

Hoffman’s ties to Epstein had been revealed in earlier releases of the files. In 2023, The Wall Street Journal reported that Hoffman visited Epstein’s island and introduced Epstein to Thiel. Hoffman and Epstein shared interest in cryptocurrency and appeared to have a close relationship, with Epstein writing in an email exchange with Hoffman that he “miss[ed] talking and seeing” him.
The Hoffman visit to Epstein Island appears to have occurred in 2014, years after Epstein’s 2008 state felony convictions. Yet his campaign donations are still welcome.

Over at Power Line, I made a point about the DGA accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from executives of the controversial artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic. Klobuchar herself has taken in ten (10) donations directly from Anthropic employees, all but one giving the maximum $4,000 contribution.
These were among the 88 donors to Klobuchar for governor listing San Francisco mailing addresses. Add in another 34 Klobuchar donors hailing from Palo Alto, California.
All told, in just 8 months of operation, the Klobuchar campaign has taken in more than $12 million.
