Announced just yesterday (October 31), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) endorsed ten (10) candidates running for local office in Minneapolis and St. Paul on the ballot Tuesday.

Most prominent among the ten endorsed candidates was current state Sen. Omar Fateh, running for mayor of Minneapolis against two-term incumbent Jacob Frey..

In addition to the endorsement, CAIR donated $10,000 from its Super PAC, Unity & Justice Fund, to a Fateh-backing group, Working Peoples Project. Unity & Justice had earlier made a $100,000 donation to the election campaign of Zohran Mamdami, for mayor of New York City.
From the New York Post, writing about donors to the Zohran Mamdani campaign in New York City, makes the connection to CAIR,
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, via its “Unity & Justice Fund,” directed a full $100,000 into Mamdani campaign coffers.
CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the notorious 2007 Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial; five Holy Land Foundation leaders were convicted of giving Hamas more than $12 million, and were sentenced to decades in prison.
Accounting for the differential in population size between the two cities (New York and MPLS), the donation to Fateh stands as far more generous than the Mamdani donation.
The only other recorded donation from the Unity & Justice Fund so far in 2025 is $5,000 to the Working Families Party, which is also backing Mamdani, according to FEC filings.
