I’m digging into the campaign finance reports filed earlier this week and a new, big player has appeared on the scene: Working Peoples Project.
The Project is a special purpose entity created to support the campaign of state Sen. Omar Fateh for mayor of Minneapolis. That’s it. That’s all it does.
It first registered with the state Campaign Finance Board on October 2. It has taken in donations from only seven (7) donors, collecting $210,000. The two smallest donors are based in Minnesota. All of the rest reside out of state.

So, $190,000 out of $210,000 (more than 90 percent) supporting Fateh were collected from out of state.
Another out-of-state PAC with “working” in the title was “investing” in Minneapolis elections. For reasons known only to them, Washington DC’s Working America donated $38,000 to spend on two Minneapolis Park Board races.
Yes, you read that correctly, races for the local Park Board have now been nationalized.
