Minnesota Man of the Day

Eduhi Raul Perea-Lizeaga, a/k/a Luis Roberto Diaz-Colon, is the latest addition to our Minnesota Man roster.

He was taken into federal custody yesterday and is being held in the Sherburne County jail. Perea, age 25, has been charged with a felony count of illegal re-entry of a previously deported alien.

Court records show that his previous deportation occurred in August 2020 following two 2020 drunk driving stops, in March and July, both in Rochester. At the time, Perea was billed out of Sleepy Eye.

In the March incident, Perea, then aged 20, was pulled over at 1:30 am by a state trooper and blew a BAC of 0.111.

In the July 2020 incident, Perea was pulled over at 9:30 pm by a city cop after running a red light. At that stop Perea produced a California ID under the name Luis Diaz-Colon, indicating an age of 29. He blew a BAC of 0.146. Fingerprinting revealed his true identity.

Owing to his deportation, Perea was a no show for court hearings on the two cases.

Perea returned to Minnesota and his court cases resumed in September 2022. He failed to appear for a June 2023 hearing.

While the first two cases were still pending, he was arrested again in September 2023 for drunk driving. This incident also occurred in Rochester, where Perea had a new address listed.

This time, a city cop pulled over Perea near midnight. Perea blew a BAC of 0.21. Court records indicate that Mr. Perea does not speak English. A later test produced a result of 0.25.

In October 2023, Perea entered into a combined plea agreement for all three cases. He pled guilty to four counts across the three cases. He pled guilty to two gross misdemeanors and two misdemeanors.

An additional 4 counts were dismissed. For a combined three separate drunk driving cases, he received no jail time. He received community service sentence and was placed on probation.

In December 2024, Perea admitted to a probation violation, but was not jailed. Total state court fines of $2,500 remain unpaid.

Edgar Diaz-Martinez was in federal court on Monday. Diaz is charged with three counts: illegal entry to the U.S., possession of forged immigration documents, and possess of a firearm (9mm pistol).

Diaz is the 81st illegal immigrant charged in federal court in Minnesota under Trump 2.0. At this point, most have already been deported.
