Patience of the saints for Minnesota Man

Darlis Adonay Espana-Santos, age 25, appears to be back on his way to his native Honduras after a court appearance this afternoon (Monday) at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis.

He will return south as a newly-minted convicted felon: having pled guilty to one count of return of a previously deported illegal alien.

At age 18, down in Texas, Mr. Espana was convicted in federal district court of illegal entry into the United States and deported. But, he returned and eventually made his way up to Minnesota.

Billed out of St. Paul, he’s racked up a number of traffic-related violations, including five in just the last year-and-a-half. These include a misdemeanor hit-and-run (property damage) case, pled down to merely driving without a license.

He leaves behind hundreds of dollars in unpaid state court fines.

Most recently, he got onto the radar of ICE when he was cited by Prior Lake police in February 2025 in a theft case dating back to August 2024. ICE picked him up last month, and thanks to the Fed’s Fast Track program, he will soon be back in Honduras.

Adios, Darlis!
