Pelican Institute to Host Louisiana Public Service Commission Candidate Forum at 2026 Solutions Summit
Baton Rouge, LA – The Pelican Institute for Public Policy, Louisiana’s leading free-market think tank, is proud to announce a special keynote event featuring qualified candidates for the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) during its 2026 Solutions Summit on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.
The Future of Louisiana Energy: Public Service Commission Issues Forum will take place from noon to 1:30 pm in the main ballroom. This high-profile session will give voters a rare opportunity to hear directly from candidates vying for two open LPSC seats in the 2026 elections: District 1 (currently held by Commissioner Eric Skrmetta) and District 5 (currently held by Commissioner Foster Campbell).
The LPSC plays a pivotal role in determining electricity rates for Louisiana families and businesses, overseeing transmission infrastructure and power generation, and setting rates for intrastate common carriers such as trucking and pipelines. With American electricity demand projected to surge up to 50% by 2040, the stakes for reliable, affordable, and resilient energy in Louisiana have never been higher.
