We’ve been following the case of Jeffrey Lopez-Suazo, accused of ramming an ICE vehicle back on November 25. Lopez was charged (criminally) in federal court with assaulting a federal officer and illegal immigration.

Lopez, age 26 of Honduras, has been deported.

Lopez earned Minnesota Man of the Day honors back on December 3. His case (but not the man himself) will be heard in federal court in downtown St. Paul this afternoon on a motion for dismissal on account of his unavailability to stand trial.

Two illegal immigrants appeared in the St. Paul federal courthouse yesterday. Abdullahi Mohamed Abdi has a past felony conviction related to drugs in North Dakota and was deported back in 2007.

At his hearing yesterday, a Somali-language interpreter was on hand to assist.

Also appearing was Jose Perez-Gonzalez, who has recorded three previous deportations.

To assist with his hearing, a Spanish-language interpreter was provided.

Both men were charged with illegal re-entry of a previous deported alien. Both are due back in court on January 27.
