Position title: Donor Relations Coordinator (Minnetonka, MN)

Position Duties:
Center of the American Experiment is Minnesota’s think tank. Its mission is to change Minnesota’s civic culture by promoting free-market, limited-government policies. American Experiment’s staff advances those solutions by drafting legislation, testifying before legislative committees, conducting meetings and programs across the state of Minnesota and neighboring states, and engaging in an aggressive outreach program that includes social media, a quarterly magazine, two podcasts, radio and television advertising and appearances, op-eds in newspapers and magazines, billboards, and more.
Position Overview:
The Donor Relations Coordinator serves as the organization’s primary CRM administrator and plays a central role in supporting the fundraising team. Responsibilities include processing mailed donations, issuing acknowledgment receipts, preparing revenue reports, and maintaining accurate donor records through regular data review, corrections, and special projects. The Coordinator works closely with the Development Director and other members of the fundraising team and may also assist with American Experiment events.
This full-time, in-office position is based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and is well suited to entry-level and junior-level applicants. The ideal candidate has strong administrative and organizational skills, is comfortable working with technology, and can maintain accurate fundraising data. Because the role is based at the front desk, the Coordinator also regularly interacts with visitors and donors and serves as a welcoming representative of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize Salesforce to:
- Record and process incoming donations.
- Create tasks and reminders for donor follow-up.
- Track key fundraising metrics.
- Generate customized reports for leadership and development staff.
- Maintain clean, accurate data by managing duplicates and reviewing data-cleaning processes.
Process donor acknowledgments promptly and accurately.
Respond to member and donor inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels.
Greet and assist visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
Perform accurate data entry during high-volume periods, such as direct mail campaigns.
Assist with planning and execution of large events.
Maintain accurate financial records to support audit preparation and compliance.
Other duties as assigned.
Desirable Traits and Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Friendly, professional demeanor with a customer service mindset.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
- Familiarity with data analysis.
- Ability to handle confidential donor and financial information with integrity and discretion.
- Experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or donor relations is a plus.
