Mulata Yusuf Ali was sentenced to one year of probation for his role in the Feeding Our Future case. Ali operated a shell company used for money laundering in the scheme, associated with the S&S Catering group of defendants. Ali’s corporate entity laundered more than $2 million on behalf of the larger scheme. Ali is from Ethiopia, and is of Oromo ethnicity.
Ali is defendant No. 53 (out of 79) in the sprawling free-food scandal, charged back in March 2023 with one count of theft of government funds. Ali did not contest the charge and pled guilty (No. 7, overall) a month later. His probation sentence includes a forfeiture amount of $95,000.
Ali is the 13th defendant to be sentenced in the case, so far, out of 65 convicted in the schme. He received the 3rd probation-only sentence. Judge Nancy Brasel has handed down all 13 sentences.
