From brothels to Medicaid fraud

The headlines are almost too bizarre to believe. Rather than prosecuting sex trafficking crimes, an assistant Minnesota county attorney is accused of committing them. It’s always something here.

From KARE-11 TV,

Former Assistant Anoka County Attorney charged for alleged role in prostitution ring. Andrea Leigh Sampson, 35, is charged with 13 counts of promoting prostitution and 13 counts of receiving profits from prostitution.

That’s a total of 26 felony counts. Sampson is currently being held in Hennepin County jail on $1 million bail, pending a court appearance tomorrow (Monday) afternoon.

Digging into the case file, Sampson was charged along with Viktoriya Sergeyevna Komonash, age 30,

Frank Devon Reeves, 57,

All three are in county jail on $1 million bail. There is a fourth defendant in the case, Katherine Thomes, age 36. The investigation dates back to 2021. Here is my favorite part of the case, from the police complaint,

Because of course they did. Corporate records show a company called Homefelt Assisted Living LLC registered to an Andrea Sampson. This Andrea Sampson has a Las Vegas mailing address.
