University of Minnesota economist named chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers

This week, the White House announced that President Trump is nominating University of Minnesota economist Christopher Phelan as the next chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers.

Prof. Phelan — no relation — is a first rate economist who will do credit both to his new position and to the state of Minnesota. I have been fortunate enough to host two webinars with him on two of the biggest economic issues the United States has faced in recent years, COVID-19 and the inflation spike of 2020 to 2022.

We wish Prof. Phelan all the best in his new role.
